[探究] look after 意为“照顾”，与________ 为同义词组。跟代词时，代词置于look after之________(前/后)。
[拓展] look after…well 相当于take good care of… 意为“好好照顾……”。

构词法（Ⅱ）
一、派生词
派生词是指在一个单词的前面或后面加一个词缀而形成的新词。
(1)常用的表示否定意义的前缀有：dis、im、in、mis、non、un等，在单词的前面加这类前缀常构成与该词意义相反的新词。例词：appear(出现)→disappear(消失)；possible(可能的)→impossible(不可能的)；correct(正确的)→incorrect(不正确的)；lead(带领)→mislead(误导)；stop(停下)→nonstop(不停的)；happy(快乐的)→unhappy(不快乐的)。
(2)常用的表示其他意义的前缀有：a(多构成表语形容词)、 en (加在某些名词或形容词前构成及物动词)、 inter (互相), re (再、又)等。例词：alone单独的；asleep 睡着的；encourage 鼓励；international 国际的；review 复习。
(1)加在某些动词之后，构成名词的后缀有：ment、ing、er、or、ion、ation、sion。例词：develop(发展)→development(发展)；meet(遇见)→meeting(会议)；read(阅读)→reader(读者)；act(表演)→actor(男演员)；invent(发明)→invention(发明)；explain(解释)→explanation(解释)；provide(提供)→provision(供应物)。
(2)加在某些名词之后，构成形容词的后缀有：ful、y、ly。例词：care(小心)→careful(小心的)；wind(风)→windy(多风的)；friend(朋友)→friendly(友好的)；week(周，星期)→weekly(每周的)。
(3)加在某些名词后，构成与该词词义相反的形容词的后缀有：less。例词：care(小心)→careless(粗心的)；home(家)→homeless(无家可归的)。
(4)加在某些形容词后，构成名词的后缀有：ness。注意：以y结尾的形容词需变y为i，再加ness。例词：dark(黑暗的)→darkness(黑暗)；happy(快乐的)→happiness(幸福)。
(5)加在某些形容词后，构成副词的后缀有：ly。注意：以y结尾的形容词需变y为i，再加ly。例词：busy(繁忙的)→busily(忙碌地)；quiet(安静的)→quietly(安静地)；happy(快乐的)→happily(快乐地)。
转化是在不改变拼写形式的基础上，由一种词性转化为另一种词性，主要有：动词转化为名词、形容词转化为副词、动词或名词等。例词：water(n.水)→ water(v.浇水)；plant(v.种植)→plant(n.植物)；fast(adj.快的)→fast(adv.快地)；dry (adj.干的) →dry(v.使变干)；green(adj.绿色的)→green(n.绿色)。

辨析：some与any
some和any都有“一些”之意，都可修饰复数名词与不可数名词，表示不定的数量及程度。some用于肯定句中，在请求、建议的疑问句中也用some。any常用于否定、疑问句中。

但在表示建议，反问，请求的疑问句中，或期望得到肯定回答时，多用some而不用any。

3. Now, something new is growing at the top of the stem. 1) something new 新的东西。every, some, any, no与one, body, thing组合起来的词叫不定代词。不定代词作主语，谓语动词用第三人称单数。当不定代词带有形容词时，形容词放后面，作后置定语。

2) at the top of 在顶部/顶端，其反义短语是at the bottom of 在底部。on (the) top of 在高处，反义短语是at the foot of 在脚下。
