英式英语VS美式英语
英国英语(British English;BrE)又称英式英语,主要是指居住在不列颠群岛上的英格兰(England)人的英语规则,为英国本土及英联邦国家的官方语言。 英式英语并非为所有不列颠人认同。在某些非英格兰地区,特别是苏格兰、威尔士与爱尔兰,主张不同方言共存。
美国英语(American English或USA English (US English),简称AE、AmE)又称美式英语,是在美国使用的一种英语形式。它在美国是最主要的语言。
过去的四百年间,美国、英联邦以及不列颠群岛使用的语言都在不断地发生变化,最终演变成了英式英语和美式英语。两种英语在音标、语法、词汇、拼写、标点、谚语、日期和数字的形式等等许多方面都有不同。有一小部分词在两种英语中有着完全不同的意思,有些甚至在另外一种英文中不会使用。美式英语较英式英语来说更为口语化,读音开放,有特性。

英语中词的构成方法主要有三种:合成、派生和转化。
由两个或更多的词合成一个词,有的用连字符“”连接,有的直接写在一起,还有的由分开的两个词构成。

[点津] (1)合成词的复数形式通常是把前面的主体名词变复数。若没有主体名词,则在最后一个词后面加复数形式。例如:fatherinlaw→fathersinlaw, grownup→grownups。

一、听力技法微指导
做好听前预测
听前预测也是提高听力测试成绩的一种有效的方式。在正式开始听录音之前,应先快速地浏览一遍题目,圈出题干与选项中的信息点,预测将会听到的内容,并明确听录音时的重心。首先,根据题干中的语言信息,预测对话或短文的语境、大意、人物身份等可能涉及的内容。其次,对比分析选项的异同,特别注意各选项中重复出现的词汇,明确下一步听录音时应该关注的方向。

[听力原文]
W: James, you've been watching TV for the whole evening.What's on?

句式一 not only...but(also)... 不但……而且……
可以连接两个在语法上并列的单词、短语或分句。

【要点必记】
(1)Not only A but also B + 谓语动词 + 其他.(谓语动词的单复数由 B 决定,即: 就近原则);
(2)not only... but also... 连接两个分句且 not only... 位于句首时,not only 后的分句要用部分倒装语序,但 but also 后的分句不倒装,即“前倒后不倒”。

类似not only... but also... 连接并列主语, 谓语动词的单复数依据就近原则的结构还有:

句式二 介词+ what 从句

【句式分析】
句中what 引导宾语从句,作介词with 的宾语,意为“所……的事/ 人”,相当于the thing(s)/ the person(s)that...。
My mind wasn’t on what he was saying, so I’m afraid I missed half of it.
我的心思没在他说的话上,恐怕我错过了一半。
【误区警示】
(1)what 引导名词性从句时,what 在 从句中作主语、宾语或表语;而that 引导名词性从句时在从句中只起连接作用,不作任何句子成分。that 在宾语从句中通常省略,但在主语从句、表语从句和同位语从句中均不能省略。
(2)介词后一般不接that引导的宾语从句。

You can depend on what he promised to you.(√)

英美英语的拼写规则比较(部分):
(1)美式英语中通常将英式英语中的字 母组合our 中的u 省去;
(2)美式英语中通常用 z 代替英式英语 中的s;
(3)构词时英式英语中单词要双写最后 的辅音字母,而美式英语则不需要;
(4)英式英语中有一些单词名词形式中 的c 在动词形式中要变成s,但是美式英语中不存在这样的情况,全部都用c;
(5)一些在英式英语中以re结尾的单词, 在美式英语里以er 结尾;

英语构词法主要有四种:派生法、合成法、转化法和缩略法。
要点一 派生法
在一个词根的前面或后面加上某个词缀生成一个新词,这种构词法称为派生法。加在前面的词缀叫前缀,加在后面的词缀叫后缀。
(1)前缀
前缀一般只改变词的意义,不改变词性。
①表示否定意义的前缀
②表示其他意义的前缀
(2)后缀
后缀通常改变词性,构成意思相近的其他词性的词,少数后缀会改变词义。

(1)neither...nor... 连接两个名词或代词作主语时,谓语动词的数遵循“就近原则”, 即谓语动词的数要与nor 后的名词或代词保持一致。
【归纳拓展】
连接并列主语时,谓语动词的数遵循“就近原则”的还有either...or...(或者……或者……),not only...but also...(不但…… 而且……),not...but...( 不是…… 而是……)等。
(2)“nor/neither + 连系动词 be/ 助动词 / 情态动词 + 主语”意为“……也不……”, 表示前面的否定情况也适用于后者。
【归纳拓展】
(1)“so + 连系动词 be /助动词 / 情态动词 + 主语”意为“……也……”,表示前面的肯定情况也适用于后者。
(2)“So it is/was with sb./sth.” 或“It is/ was the same with sb./sth.”意为“……也是如此”。此句式用于比较复杂的情况, 如前句的谓语动词肯定、否定同时存在, 或谓语动词不属于同一类。
(3)“so + 主语 + 连系动词be/助动词 / 情态动词”意为“……的确如此”,表示肯定前者的说法。
