(1)stand for代表，象征，意味着。它多指代表某种抽象含义或指用字母、数字或符号来表示一个单词、名字或是某种概念的缩写的形式。
例：NBA stands for National Basketball Association.
NBA 代表(美国)国家篮球协会。
(2)continent n．洲；大陆。
例：There are seven continents and four oceans on the earth. 地球上有七大洲四大洋。

stay the same意为“保持相同”。

当三个或三个以上的人或物进行比较的时候，形容词和副词要用最高级。最高级后常用of或in短语来表示比较的范围。形容词最高级前一定要加the，而副词最高级前the可以省略。
