由一个主句和一个或一个以上的从句构成的句子叫作复合句。在复合句中用来修饰主句中的谓语动词、形容词或者副词等的从句称为状语从句。状语从句从其表达的含义来看,可分为条件、时间、原因、比较、结果、目的、让步、方式、地点状语从句。本单元重点讲解if引导的条件状语从句。
