1 general adj. 一般的；普遍的

There is a general interest in sports.对于运动，(人们)有普遍的兴趣。
[探究] general用作________词，指普遍存在于大多数人或事物中，有“较少例外的”含义。常用短语是in general，意为“_____________”。
2 repeat v. 重复；复述；背诵
[观察] You have your own unique DNA, but it repeats patterns from your parents' DNA.
你有你自己独特的DNA，但是它重复了你父母DNA的模式。
The teacher asked him to repeat what she had said.
老师要求他重复她所讲的话。
[探究] repeat可作及物动词，也可作不及物动词。repeat意为“重复；重说；重做”时， 其后不能再跟 again。repeat sth.＝say/do sth. ________。
句型透视

[探究] (1)句中“they live in”为定语从句，前面省略了关系词that或which。
(2)millions of 意为“________________”。
[拓展] (1)关系代词在定语从句中作主语时，一般不能省略；只有做宾语或表语时才可省略。

1. Except for identical twins, each living thing has its own unique DAN. 除了每个双胞胎之外，每个生物都有他唯一的DNA。
1)except for除……以外，只是，排除的不是同类，表示对主要部分的肯定和对局部的否定。
Your article is quite good except for several spelling mistakes. 你的文章很好，只是有几处拼写错误。
except， besides， but 和except for 的区别
except “除……之外”，排除后面的人或物，而且排除的内容和主语往往是同一类。如：We went to see our teacher yesterday except Li Ming. 昨天除了李明以外我们都去看我们的老师了（李明没去）。
besides “除……之外，还有”，包括该词后面的人或物。如：We all went to see a film besides Li Ming. 除李明以外我们也都去看电影了（李明去了）。
but““除……之外”,一般用于否定句中，表示”只有……“，如：There is nothing but a pen in the pencil case.铅笔盒里除了一支钢笔之外什么也没有。
except for “除……之外”,后面排除的部分和主语不是同一类人或物.如 :The movie was good except for the ending.这部电影除了结局之外都很好。
2. From your DNA, scientists can identify not only you but also people related to you. 在你的DNA中，科学家们不但能鉴别你，而且也能鉴别和你有关系的人。
1) not only …but also…不但……而且……，连接两个相同的成分，也可连接两个分句。连接两个并列主语时，谓语动词和临近主语保持一致；连列两个并列分句时，not only置于句首，通常用倒装结构，也就是说，把not only引导的分句中的助动词或be提到主语前面。
He likes not only English but also math.
他不仅喜欢英语，而且喜欢数学。
Not only you but also I am a teacher. 不仅你而且我也是一名老师。

2)relate to涉及，有关

现在完成进行时
现在完成进行时表示动作从过去某一时间开始，一直延续到现在还未结束。现在完成进行时有时也可用来表示经常的、反复的动作。
(1) 结构：have / has + been + V-ing
(2) 与since或for引导的时间状语连用；since后接动作开始的时间，for后面接一段时间；对since或for引导的时间状语提问时要用how long 。
(3) 否定形式是在have / has后加not构成，可缩写为haven’t / hasn’t。
(4) 一般疑问句形式是将have / has提至主语前；肯定回答用“Yes, 主语+have / has.”，否定回答用“No, 主语+haven’t / hasn’t.”。
e.g. a. -How long have you been drawing?
-I have been drawing for two hours.
b. -How long has Maria been playing the piano?
-She has been playing the piano since she was five years old.
c. They haven’t been working since last month.
d. -Has he been living here?
-Yes, he has. / No, he hasn’t.
定语从句是在复合句中起定语作用， 修饰名词、代词或整个主句的从句。被定语从句修饰的词叫先行词。引导定语从句的关系词有关系代词(that, which, who, whom, whose等) 和关系副词(where, when, why)。
关系词在定语从句中的作用：
①连接主句和定语从句；
②指代先行词；
③在定语从句中充当一定的成分。
(1)关系代词that与which
在定语从句中，关系代词that既可指人，也可指物，which一般用于指物。
在指物时，二者一般可以互换，但非限制性定语从句中多用which引导。
e.g. The old town has narrow streets and small houses that are built close to each other.
That evening, which I will tell you more about later, I ended up working very late.
(2)关系代词who与whom
who指人，是主格，在定语从句中作主语，一般可用that替换。
whom指人，是宾格，在定语从句中作 宾语。在口语和非正式文体中可用who 或that替换，也可以省略。

This unit is much easier than that one. 这个单元比那个单元容易得多。
2. own 的用法
1）adj. 自己的 （用在所有格后，加强语气）

2) vt. 有，拥有 其名词形式为owner，意为主人，所有者。

2 as…as 和……一样……
[观察] She is as tall as me. 她和我一样高。
She doesn't draw as well as her brother.

[探究] as…as 意为“和……一样……”，表示比较，两个as之间用________词或________词的________级。其否定形式为not as…as或not so…as，意为“不如……，不像……”，表示前者不如后者。
3 cut down 砍倒；缩减

◆as…as…意为“与……一样……”,两个as之间可加形容词或副词的原级;也可加“many+复数名词”,“much+不可数名词”或“形容词+a/an+单数名词”,还可以在as…as…前加twice,half等词表示前后者倍数或分数关系。as…as的否定形式为not as/so…as…。
