could 与 can 的用法区别 

could 与 can 都是情态动词，二者都可用于表示请求的句子中，但是用法稍有不同。 

can 表示一般性的请求，语气较随便，常用于熟人之间或长辈对晚辈、上级对下级的场合。

例如： Can you tell us your story, Tony? 

请你给我们讲讲你的故事好吗，托尼？

could 表示有礼貌的请求，语气委婉,

常用于非熟人之间或晚辈对长辈、下级对上级的场合。例如： 

Could you pass the salt to me? 

请你把盐递给我，好吗？

Could you please clean your room?

请你打扫一下你的房间，好吗？

情态动词用法小结

1. 情态动词不能表示正在发生或已经发生的事情, 只表示期待或估计某事的发生。

2. 情态动词除ought 和have 外, 后面只能接不带to 的不定式。

3. 情态动词没有人称,数的变化,即情态动词第三人称单数不加-s。

4. 情态动词没有非谓语形式,即没有不定式、分词等形式。

could与can的区别 

could与can都是情态动词, could是can的过去式。二者都可用于表示请求, 但是用法稍有不同。 

can表示一般性的请求,语气随便, 常用于熟人之间或长辈对晚辈, 上级对下级的场合。 

e.g. Can you tell us your story ,Tony ? 

Tony,你能给我们讲讲你的故事吗？

may和might

表示允许或请求; 表示没有把握的推测; may放在句首, 表示祝愿。

注意: might 表示推测时, 不表示时态，只是可能性比may小。

have to和must

1. 两词都是“必须”的意思, have to表示客观的需要, must 表示说话人主观上的看法, 既主观上的必要。     

My brother was very ill, so I had to 

call the doctor in the middle of the night.　

我弟弟病得很厉害,我只得半夜里把医生请来。(客观上需要做这件事)

He said that they must work hard.    

他说他们必须努力工作。 (主观上要做这件事)

2. have to有人称、数、时态的变化,而must只有一种形式。但must 可用于间接引语中表示过去的必要或义务。

He had to look after his sister yesterday.

3. 在否定结构中: don’t have to 表示 “不必”, mustn’t 表示“禁止”。

You don’t have to tell him about it.你不一定要把此事告诉他。

You mustn’t tell him about it.你一定不要把这件事告诉他。

give sb. sth. 含义为“给某人某物”，give后面接双宾语。该短语可以 由give sth. to sb. 来替换。

1.共同点：三者均可表示请求，允许。意思为：”………………可以吗？”

2.不同点： CAN表示请求或允许，多用于口语中，意为“可以、能”等。

如：Can I help you ?

May表示“许可、准许、请求许可”，此时与 can 同义，可以互换使用

如：May I use your ruler ? 

Sure ,/Certianly .  /Yes , please. 

No, you mustn’t /No , you can’t .

注意：否定回答不能说成No, you may not .

Could 的其他几种用法：

1.Could  作为can的过去式，表示过去的能力。

2.表示惊讶，怀疑，不相信等态度，主要用于否定句或者疑问句，此时could   与can无时间上的区别，但语气比can缓和，情绪要弱。

3.表示可能性，只对将来，现在后者过去某种可能的推测

4，用于虚拟语气。

ill 与sick 都可以表示“生病的”，都可作表语。如：

Alice was ill / sick yesterday.

表示“生病”时，sick 可作定语，但ill 通常不作定语。如：

(1) throw down 扔下，使倒下

eg. He threw himself down in the bed and fell asleep.他一头栽在床上就睡着了。

They threw down the tools and walked out.他们扔下工具，举行罢工。

(2) come over过来，从远处来

eg. Come over! Here’s a seat for you. 过来，这儿有个座位。

He came over from France last week, just to see us. 他上周从法国专程来看我们。

(3) as…as结构表示的是同级比较，第一个as后的形容词或副词必须用原级，比较的对象也须属同类。

eg. She is as tall as her mother. 她和她母亲一样高。
